The Story of Best Bean Coffee Co
Before Best Bean Coffee Co, we discovered the awesome taste of the fresh coffee beans during our time in Costa Rica in the 90s and quickly fell in love with coffee. However, when we returned to the UK we could never find anything that recreated the smooth mellow flavours of the Costa Rican coffee that we had enjoyed during our stay.

Years later, when we returned for a business trip to Costa Rica we met up with our old friend, Marta (pictured above). It was over dinner that we got to discussing coffee and Best Bean Coffee Co was born!

From Farm to Cup

In 2019 we imported our first lot of green coffee beans. Marta had sourced us some coffee beans from the Finca Santa Lucia plantation and the adventure began. We weren't sure how the coffee would go down but it was a huge success and we sold out completely within a matter of months!

Marta who is a natural when it comes to coffee profiling then worked with us to bring the delicious Montaña De Diamanté coffee to the UK in 2020 and now she has sourced our fantastic 5 Finca blend from the world famous coffee growing regions of Costa Rica which includes Poas, Naranjo, Zarcero and Sarchi and we think this is our best coffee yet!
At Best Bean, our aim is to deliver the finest hand-roasted coffee beans from the farm to your door. Check out our wide range of coffee beans in our shop now. We’re always eager to help our customers and hear your queries through our contact page.
The Roasting
For our first lot of coffee beans we purchased a broken down roaster off eBay and Sabrina's brothers worked hard to get it up and running again. Coffee roasting was an exciting event with all the family coming out to watch. It took us a few attempts to get the roasting process right with a few burnt coffee beans along the way but we got there in the end.

When we imported the Montaña De Diamanté coffee we thought it was time to upgrade the roaster. So we purchase a 15kg FIMT Torino coffee roaster which was lovingly restored by Nick Karpastis.

We hand roast our beans slowly up to a heat of 200 degrees Celsius until we hear the beans cracking. This is the sound of the sugars inside the beans caramelising releasing the delicious caramel, citrus and fruit flavours.

All orders are freshly roasted to a medium roast but if you would prefer a light or dark roast then please send us message with your order.
